National mutt day 2021
National Mutt Day was created in 2005 by Celebrity Pet Expert and Animal Welfare Advocate, Colleen Paige, and is widely known on both July 31st 2021 * Jul*. National Mutt Day is all about embracing, saving, and celebrating mixed breed dogs. the most important percentage of dogs euthanized thanks to the constant over-breeding and public desire for designer dogs and purebred puppies that are sold to pet stores supplied by puppy mills that always produce ill and neglected animals.
Dogs are specially celebrated and there are oodles of national (and international) holidays to prove it. But unlike most of our doggy days, National Mutt Day, on July 31, focuses on the mixed breed dogs who sometimes get overlooked. This holiday inspires people to find out more about adopting one.
National Mutt Day also brings attention to the various great mixed breed dogs in need of homes. They enjoy the spotlight such a lot that we celebrate mixed breed dogs not just on one occasion, but twice a year! On both July 31 2021, join us in celebrating all the mutts and mixed breed dogs that make our lives so great.
- WHY NATIONAL MUTT DAY is vital
All dogs love us for who we are
Whether your dog is from a famous breeder or your local shelter, he or she loves you in a way that cannot be expressed in words. Though mixed breed dogs aren't usually as highly considered their purebred cousins, they have much love in their hearts. and a few people even argue that since most mutts weren't born on security, they love us even more.
Mixed breeds have better health
These dogs have hit the genetic lottery. The blending of genes helps fight deficiencies by providing healthier gene sequences from other breeds. consider it this way: the smaller the gene pool, the less healthy the genes. Your mutt, on the opposite hand, features a sampling from everywhere, adding to the dog's overall lifespan and well-being.
Mutts need people, too
Often omitted for his or her pedigreed cousins, mixed breed dogs find themselves at a pet shelter more frequently, and that they tend to attend longer before getting adopted. But mutts have all the doggedness we love about dogs and National Mutt Day is about getting them the love and a spotlight they deserve.
- HOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL MUTT DAY
Adopt a mixed breed dog
There are many great dogs out there who lack a home simply because they do not have the proper pedigree. But you'll do your part to vary all that. Getting any dog may be a big responsibility, but a mixed breed will likely be healthier, happier, better behaved — and live longer than a purebred of equivalent age.
Donate to your local shelter
Not within the position to adopt a mutt? you'll still help your local shelter with a donation. Your money goes to things like food, toys and medicine. Every dollar counts, so you'll really make a difference within the lives of all the dogs at the shelter.
Volunteer to assist out
If donations aren't your style, you'll always volunteer. Shelters need volunteers to befriend the dogs, play with them and take them for walks. a couple of hours of some time can make an enormous difference in their happiness and happy dogs stand a far better chance of getting adopted.
